Kate and Peter’s Wedding

Doug Mountain was out and about for Kate and Peter’s wedding. It was another of those truly challenging days, with gale force winds evident throughout. What was great though was the rain stopped just in time for the ceremony.
Kate’s family have a little to do with one of Wellington’s best kept secrets The Pines. That really is an understatement! Simon, The Woolf family, and the Photography by Woolf have worked with Kate’s parents Shirley and Tony for many years, and when they purchased The Pines, probably 15 years ago, we knew the evolution would ultimately be spectacular. It would now be one of the best reception venues in Wellington, and has a superb atmosphere, great views, and fantastic food. Tony is just amazing in the kitchen, and is one great caterer, while Shirley is the detail person, who ensures that every function runs smoothly and successfully. You usually find other members of the family involved in the running aspects of The Pines too.
So when Kate came to us to photograph her and Peter’s wedding we were very honoured. Warmth and fun summed up their wedding day, and Doug related to us all as to how spontaneous the day was, and that one of the many highlights was Tony’s speech, which was the funniest Father of the Bride speeches he has ever heard!
Kate’s sisters were bridesmaids, and Peter’s twin brother a groomsman, which also made for a pretty neat dynamic. Wellington’s rugged south coast and Carlucci Land made for a superb array of different and unique photos, and just when a grey day was seemingly over, a dramatic sunset topped things off, making Kate and Peter’s wedding even more special.
