Ashley and Dean were married three weeks ago in Nelson. While most of their photos, taken by a friend, were fine, a couple of key shots were missed! So today, on Seven’s Saturday, we took a range of photos , which were diverse, “out there”, and in some cases totally different! We started in the studio, and shot a series of lovely images including some on our new “Green Screen”. I thought we would have a quiet time in the CBD, with Seven’s participants being all at The Stadium. We were however all in for a number of Sevens related surprises!! Many costumed characters appeared, and heap of fun occurred as a result.

A big thank you to Ingrid and her team, at Scent Florists , who provided some spectacular long stemmed red roses, while Chris, and Wilkins Suit Hire provided Dean’s attire, which matched the wedding day to a tee. A big thank you there too!

After the CBD, we headed down to Wellington’s stunning South Coast. The light, and atmospherics were just lovely. The wrap around light meant there were no restrictions to the backgrounds on offer.

A huge thank you Ashley and Dean. We had a fun couple of hours, and some truely memorable images happened as a result.

During last weekend while Photography by Woolf were at The North City Wedding Show we ran a number of Wedding Specials. The day was a total success, and we rocked big time, booking a number of weddings in the process. We are still running a number of those specials for the next week or two. Strike while the irons hot, and give Michaela or Toni a ring on 04 917 6861 or email info@woolf.co.nz for more details and to book your wedding photography with us. Our Winter and Off Peak Specials are particularly attractive.

The most common comments we received at The North City Wedding Show were ” We thought you were too expensive for us, when in reality you offer great value”, and ” We perceived you as being the best, so assumed you would be out of our price bracket, but in comparing what you do with some of the others here you have some great deals going!” Don’t be put off by all our awards and accolades, as if we weren’t competitive, we would not have been in business as long as we have! We thrive on, and enjoy our weddings immensely. We have a great wedding team who will look after you from the start to the completion of your wedding photography. We also have a fantastic array of products and services on offer, and above all you will have fun and enjoy the experience of having your wedding photography taken by us.

Raechelle and Nick were married at Old St Pauls, with it being the third week in a row that I have been lucky enough to photograph in such a beautiful church! Raechelle was always going to be a stylish bride, and it was great to be able to take some neat city shots in Lambton Quay. It was an ambition of Raechelle to be able to achieve some innovative shots in the heart of the CBD. and we nailed them big time!

As per usual, we had a heap of fun today. Raechelle, Nick and their 4 year old son Blake, are a neat family. Blake being particularly spirited helped ease nerves, as he is a one kid entertainment package, and definitely knows how the world works!!

The day started with hair and makeup at NIX’s Salon in Lower Hutt. Meeting Raechelle’s two sisters, who were also Bridesmaids, it confirmed to me the day was going to be full of warmth, fun and humour It was then onto the boys house in Stokes Valley, where Pizza was on the menu for lunch, in a very relaxed fashion. Raechelle’s final touches were at her Mum’s place in Upper Hutt, and then onto the ceremony at Old St Pauls. The Jetty in Petone was the reception venue, and before the festivities began we got some spectacular shots on Petone beach.

Again we made the most of the weather, and managed to avoid the worst of the wind. This was a very cool wedding, which I enjoyed from start to finish. A big thanks to all who participated. Raechelle and Nick I hope you enjoy the little preview of images as above.

Being a Wedding Photographer is such an honour. It brings with it some great moments, and also is a great responsibility. Today was one of those days that highlighted how important it is to gain those special moments.

Emily and Paul, their wedding party, friends and family all had a blast today. It was the most superb wedding. The warmth and family, and the atmosphere that was created as a result was quite special.
Old St Paul’s was the venue for the ceremony, and Bishop Tom Brown officiated. It was lovely service , and what followed was equally, if not more impressive, with photos at The Botanical Gardens, (where I took photos in two places I had never photographed before! ) and then onto Oriental Bay. In spite of blustery glary conditions, we gained a combination of the stunning dramatic, plus an array of fun shots. The blend of photos today was the best.

The reception was at Shed 5 where Astrid, and her team looked after everyone superbly, with the cuisine being right up with the huge standards Shed 5 sets for fine dining. The speeches were great, and Paul’s speech in particular was sublime. With no notes, Paul delivered one of the best Groom’s speeches I have heard. It was full of warmth, humour, and appreciation. His words of love to Emily was spontaneous, and impressive. It was the complete entertainment package too!

The night was rounded off with dancing, ably led by singer songwriter Shaun Preston, who entertained in typical style.

Emily and Paul I enjoyed the day immensely, as did everyone else. I’d been looking forward to your Big Day for sometime, knowing that it had the potential to be a top occasion, and so it proved, plus some. Thank you for allowing me to capture all the special moments of the day.

The demise of Kodak is so sad. Photography by Woolf ( previously Spencer Digby Studios) had a special relationship with Kodak going back to 1934. Until the digital era we pretty much used 100% Kodak film paper and chemistry, for 50 years plus. We worked with Kodak testing papers, and emulsions, and were chosen by Kodak on assignments like the Auckland Commonwealth Games. We were sponsored and supported by Kodak with many exhibitions, and community related events. My Father Ronald Woolf, and I, represented Kodak in Seminars and Workshops. Kodak supplied speakers and mentors to NZ, and were able to influence and inspire like no other photographic brand. Photography by Woolf won more Kodak Gold Awards than any other studio in New Zealand. We will always be proud of that! We have many friends and colleagues who worked with, or for Kodak too. Our thoughts are with them too. Pre digital, our relationship was just so strong.

Kodak we are grieving for you, and with you. We thank you.

Bria and Wendi’s Civil Union was fantastic occasion and celebration. It was neat being both a guest, and photographer too. I have known Wendi since she was a kid, and I coached her at soccer in my previous life! Since that time we have kept in contact. Wendi has gone on to become one of the great New Zealand Women’s Footballers of her generation, losing none of her warmth, and down to earthness in the process. I have know Bria for a while too, and she is a neat, fun loving, caring person also. Her Dad, Steve ,and I started soccer refereeing together, and Steve became New Zealand’s top referee, being recognised internationally.

Having two families I knew was just great, and made the day all the more special. It was also neat seeing lots of old friends, some of who I hadn’t seen in a while.

As you will see from the photos soccer had a reasonable part in proceedings. The speeches were fantastic, and in places side splittingly hilarious! Just what you would wish for on such a wonderful occasion.

Ohariu Farm, where Bria and Wendi had their union and celebration is a top one stop shop for a wedding. Jude and Erin, and the team are so welcoming and accommodating, and nothing is too much trouble. The cuisine was top class, and the little touches they apply make everyone involved feel special.

Julie McLagan was the celebrant, and as per usual made the occasion so special with her wonderfully warm delivery, and professional approach to the service.

As expected the day bought a huge amount of fun and laughter, and I went home with sore ribs, and some great photos as a result. Thanks heaps Bria and Wendi. I was so honoured to be involved in recording your “Big Day”. It was a blast! Below is a little preview of the fun and festivities. Enjoy!

This is Liam who I photographed earlier today. Liam is a 15month old Superstar, who came into the studio with his parents, and who in just about every shot was just fantastic. Even after having a bad night, and ebing in teething mode Liam was all smiles. It also proves that most under fives photograph, and are more receptive, in the mornings to being photographed. We had a great time, and the fun we had is reflected in the photos.

Liam’s Dad’s family have been Photography by Woolf clients for nearly three generations, and while we treat all our clients as being special, it’s really neat seeing a next generation come through.

Liam, and his family also came to us and took advantage of some great savings using our New Year Specials. The specials are listed on our Specials page. For more info, and to make a time to book a special portrait session please ring Michaela, Toni or Simon on 917 6861
