Two Major Awards Gained

The Photographic Society of New Zealand has just announced it’s award winners from The 2012 PSNZ Canon National Exhibition. Photography by Woolf is very proud to have association with two of the major awards.

Dillon Anderson, who has become a major part of our Woolf’s Photographic Workshops was awarded  The PSNZ Youth Award.  This award is hugely sought after, and has an impressive list of winners in it’s 30 year history. Dillon’s name will be added to a trophy which has the names of Team Pulitzer winner Mel Burford, NZIPP Master Photographer Emma Hughes, UCOL Tutor Ian Rotherham and WPPI Master Photographer Melinda Baigent recorded amongst it’s winners. Dillon is 20, and already has an impressive array of top class images, and particularly within nature and conservation areas. Dillon is also a great presenter, and tutor, having impressed at a number of our Woolf’s Photographic Workshops.

Simon Woolf was awarded a Gold Medal and The Shirley Peverill Award for Photojournalism. It is Simon’s 10th PSNZ Gold medal, and is significant as his medals have come over four different decades. Gold Medals are particularly difficult to achieve. This year there were 1575 images entered into The PSNZ National Exhibition, with only 351 photographs being selected for the exhibition. The National Exhibition was selected in Invercargill, and will be displayed as part of The National Convention of Photography, which will be  hosted by The Southland Photographic Society in late April.
